About the BMW X1
The BMW X1 is BMW’s entry-level compact premium SUV and one of the most popular vehicles in its segment in the UK, produced since 2009 and now in its third generation. Available across petrol, diesel, PHEV (xDrive25e), and fully electric (iX1) powertrains, the X1 is BMW’s most accessible SUV and a widely chosen urban and family car across the UK.
As a compact premium SUV frequently used in urban and suburban environments, the X1 sees parking scuffs and stone chips from both city driving and motorway use. Chipex stocks colour-matched touch up paint for every UK-market X1 shade from the original E84 through to the current U11.
BMW X1 Generations and Paint Code Location
The BMW X1 has run across three main generations:
E84 (2009–2015) · F48 (2015–2022) · U11 (2022–present)
Your BMW X1 paint code is a 3–4 character alphanumeric code. On F48 and U11 models, the sticker is inside the driver’s door jamb or on the engine bay strut tower – location varies by production year. On E84 models, check the driver’s door jamb or engine bay.
Codes beginning with ‘W’ indicate a BMW Individual or special finish. Use the full code including the W prefix when searching.
Common BMW X1 Paint Issues
Stone chips on the front bumper and door sill scuffs are the most frequent damage types – the X1’s use as an urban vehicle means parking-related contact is common.
Alpine White (300) is consistently the most ordered X1 colour on the Chipex platform and a solid finish – the most straightforward to repair. Mineral Grey (B39) and Storm Bay (C4H) are popular metallic shades on F48 and U11 models requiring 2–3 thin coats. Black Sapphire (475) remains popular across all X1 generations and requires careful thin-coat application.
