About the Honda Civic
The Honda Civic is one of the most globally successful compact cars of the last five decades, produced continuously since 1972 and now in its eleventh generation. In the UK, the Civic is available as a five-door hatchback with petrol and e:HEV full hybrid powertrains – plus the Type R performance variant. Known for its reliability, practicality, and strong residual values, the Civic is a popular choice across all buyer types in the UK compact segment.
Chipex stocks colour-matched touch up paint for every UK-market Civic shade from the original Mk1 through to the current FL5 generation.
Honda Civic Generations and Paint Code Location
The Honda Civic has run across eleven main generations in the UK. The most commonly seen on UK roads today are:
Mk8 (2005–2011) · Mk9 (2011–2015) · Mk10 (2015–2021) · Mk11 (2021–present)
Your Honda Civic paint code is a three to four-character alphanumeric code. On Mk9, Mk10, and Mk11 models, the paint code sticker is inside the driver’s door jamb – open the door and look for the white label on the door pillar. On the Mk8 and earlier models, the code may be on the door jamb or on a plate in the engine bay.
Honda paint codes are sometimes displayed with a ‘NH’, ‘YR’, ‘B’, ‘G’, or ‘R’ prefix indicating the colour family – include this prefix when searching.
Common Honda Civic Paint Issues
Stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper are the most frequent damage type across all Civic generations. Platinum White Pearl (NH883P) is consistently the most ordered Civic colour on the Chipex platform – a pearlescent solid finish requiring 1–2 thin coats.
Crystal Black Pearl (NH731P) is a popular metallic black requiring careful thin-coat application. Sonic Grey Pearl (NH830M) and Aegean Blue Metallic (B610M) are popular Mk10 and Mk11 shades requiring 2–3 thin coats. Rallye Red (R81) is the classic Honda solid red – straightforward to repair and consistently popular.
