About the Kia Picanto

The Kia Picanto is Kia’s city car and entry-level model in the UK, produced since 2004 and now in its third generation. Available as a three-door and five-door hatchback with small-capacity petrol engines, the Picanto is popular as a first car, urban runabout, and low-cost daily driver. Kia’s strong reliability reputation and seven-year warranty have made the Picanto a trusted choice in the supermini segment.

As an urban city car, the Picanto sees parking damage and minor contact scuffs regularly. Chipex stocks colour-matched touch up paint for every UK-market Picanto shade across all three generations.

Kia Picanto Generations and Paint Code Location

The Kia Picanto has run across three main generations:

Mk1 (2004–2011) · Mk2 (2011–2017) · Mk3 (2017–present)

Your Kia Picanto paint code is a three-character alphanumeric code. On all Picanto generations, the paint code sticker is inside the driver’s door jamb – open the door and look for the white label on the door pillar or sill. The code is clearly listed alongside other vehicle identification details.

Some Picanto colours are also identified by a descriptive name on the sticker (e.g. ‘Clear White’, ‘Aurora Black Pearl’). Either the code or entering your registration at the top of this page will identify your colour accurately.

Common Kia Picanto Paint Issues

Parking scuffs and rear bumper contact damage are the most frequent issues – the Picanto’s compact dimensions and urban use make minor contact in car parks and tight streets a common occurrence. Clear White (UD) is the most popular Picanto colour and a solid finish – the most forgiving to repair.

Aurora Black Pearl (ABP) is a popular metallic black requiring thin-coat application. Silky Silver (KLG) is a common metallic shade across Mk2 and Mk3 models requiring 2–3 thin coats. Horizon Blue (AB7) and Chilli Red (PR2) are vivid solid shades on the Mk3 that repair predictably.
