How to order the shade of black car paint you need

It might seem like black paint is all the same, but there are nuances to be aware of. Different manufacturers offer various OEM hues, so it’s important to get an exact match. For example, BMW Black Sapphire Metallic, Audi Mythos Black, Mercedes Obsidian Black and Ford Agate Black can all differ slightly.

You might be surprised how much ‘jet black’, ‘blackest black’, and ‘black cherry’ car paint shades can differ! The same goes for phantom black and midnight black pearl.

The easiest way to get the colour you need is to find your vehicle’s paint code. Send it to us and we’ll make a bespoke repair kit that blends seamlessly. This helps ensure a true black car paint colour match.

How to apply our high-quality black touch up paint

Our aim is to make black car paint repair as straightforward and affordable as possible. In a few simple steps, you can say goodbye to chips, scuffs, scratches, and road rash on your black vehicle — without the expense of a garage repair.

1. Prepare the affected area

Ensure the damaged area is thoroughly cleaned and any wax or polish has been removed so that the touch up paint will adhere well.

2. Apply touch‑up paint

Use the supplied brush to apply your black car paint and leave it to dry (this usually takes up to 5 minutes). For road rash, you can apply the paint with a finger — make sure you’re wearing protective gloves.

3. Remove excess with blending solution

When the paint is touch-dry, add a small amount of the blending solution to the paint removal cloth. Apply this to the painted area, using very gentle pressure; the blending solution will remove any excess paint. Leave it to dry for a few minutes.

4. Polish to restore shine*

*Note: Do not carry out this step on matte black car paint.

Once the painted area is completely dry, apply a bit of the finishing polish to the microfibre cloth. Rub this over the treated area and wait for it to dry — it will look opaque.

Buff the polish away using the microfibre cloth.
