Johnny Graham

Since founding Chipex in 2009, Johnny Graham has led the development of patented paint repair technology trusted by more than 1.5 million customers worldwide, establishing Chipex as one of the early pioneers in automotive paint repair. Today, the company supplies leading global vehicle manufacturers, major automotive aftermarket retailers, and the world’s largest bicycle manufacturer on a global basis. Chipex has also been featured in The Times, AutoExpress, Car and Driver, Porsche Post and more.

For nearly four decades, Johnny has worked at the premium end of the automotive industry. His career has spanned virtually every corner of the sector, from building businesses around high-performance vehicles and supplying automotive manufacturers to developing consumer products and specialist retail operations, giving him a rare understanding of vehicle finishes, paint systems and the importance of preserving a car’s value. Before founding Chipex, Johnny built and sold a leather products company supplying some of the world’s leading automotive brands, created what became the UK’s largest chain of Vespa and Gilera dealerships, established a successful business specialising in some of the world’s most prestigious performance and luxury marques, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, and developed a portfolio of residential property in central London. These ventures gave him first-hand insight into every stage of the automotive value chain, from manufacturing and retail to vehicle preparation and resale.

The idea for Chipex came while preparing one of those cars for sale. A few small stone chips were having a disproportionate impact on its value, yet the only repair options were expensive body shop treatments that made little commercial sense. Convinced there had to be a better way, Johnny developed a paint repair system that delivers exceptional results without the cost and inconvenience of traditional body shop repairs. Sixteen years later, he remains closely involved in refining Chipex’s paint formulations, colour-matching technology and repair systems, combining decades of automotive experience with a relentless focus on innovation and product performance.

Outside business, Johnny has competed as an aerobatic pilot, skydiver, Ironman triathlete and Marathon des Sables ultramarathon runner. In 2025, he was selected for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme.
