How to repair car paint
Preparation
Firstly, clean and dry the damaged area on your car. This ensures that the Chipex solution adheres properly.
Step 1: Apply the paint
Use the applicator brush to apply the paint onto the damaged area. Smooth the paint out evenly with your finger (wearing the supplied gloves). It may take up to 5 minutes for the paint to dry fully.
Step 2: Apply the blending solution
Once the paint has dried, lightly apply the blending solution using the included cloth. Gently wipe over the area to clean up any excess paint around the repair. Leave to dry for a few minutes.
Step 3: Finish with polish
Apply a small amount of polish to a clean microfibre cloth. Gently rub it into the paint repair in circular motions. The polish should start to go cloudy during blending, which is your cue to buff it off with the cloth.
FAQs
Will the Chipex kit car scratch remover be an exact colour match?
Absolutely! Chipex uses genuine OEM colour codes to guarantee a factory-accurate finish when applied to your car.
Our colour match tool helps you locate your vehicle’s exact manufacturer colour code. You can usually find the code on a sticker inside your car door. You can check out our touch up paint colour match codes here.
How long does the Chipex repair process take?
Most light scratches can be repaired in under 30 minutes, following the 3-step process above.
Can I use Chipex on deep dents and scratches?
Chipex works best on light to medium scratches and stone chips. Unfortunately, we’d advise professional bodywork for deeper dents and scratches.
How soon can I wash my car after using Chipex?
It’s recommended to wait at least 24 hours after repair before washing your vehicle, to allow the paint to fully cure.
What does Chipex car scratch repair paint cost?
Chipex scratch repair paint kits start from as little as £36.95.
Do I need to repair scratches before applying touch-up paint?
If the damage is deep or the paint is missing, we recommend using one of our Chipex™ Repair Paint Kits. Alternatively, for light scratches, scuffs, and paint transfer, our Professional Scratch Removal Compound provides a permanent, flawless finish without painting.
